Qualifications:
22 years in the green industry. Plant health care, ornamental and shade tree pruning. Recently worked with an orchard owner to get more skills and knowledge in maintaining an orchard.

Education:
Chuck earned his B.A. in Environmental Studies from Johnson State College. Certificate from UMAss extension for control of invasive plants.
Personal:
Chuck lives in Milford, enjoys spending time with family, hiking and water sports. With his family, he does service projects with their church, and relaxes by playing board games. During the winter, he likes to explore the woods on snowshoes, and summer months on the water paddle boarding.

Massachusetts Landscape Professional Annual Field Days
On September 18, 2019, SavATree was honored to sponsor the Massachusetts Landscape Professional Annual Field Days at Cushing Park in Framingham, MA. Chuck ran our “Ask an Arborist” booth and gave away a pair of noise cancelling headphones to a community member. It was a great chance for Chuck and the team to connect with members of the local community as well as other landscaping professionals!
Carlisle, MA Garden Club Country Garden Tour 2019

Sugar Maple

Tree Crack in Framingham, MA
September 1, 2019 – Today I was invited to look at this 30″ DBH oak tree. The crack runs about 3 feet up the trunk and down into the soil about 7″. The interior wood is solid and the tree appeared healthy. I am thinking about my next move. reduction pruning and placing some through rods is an option, but I am thinking about some other options this client may have. Aphids
July 30, 2019 – This large oak tree on one of my client’s properties in Hudson, MA is loaded with aphids, which are causing dripping on the patio, grill and furniture. The stains on the grill and deck are residue from the aphids feeding. Hawthorn Leaf Mining Sawfly Damage
June 21, 2019 – The leaves on this client’s Hawthorn tree turned brown this year. I was able to diagnose it as a sawfly that mines the leaves and causes this look to the tree. The Beauty of Nature
June 6, 2019 – I was visiting a client’s property in Needham, MA today and was struck by the color coordination of this Japanese Maple. Stopping to see this tree was a highlight of my day. Winter Moth in Hudson, MA
May 11, 2019 – This winter moth larvae was spotted feeding on a leaf on one of my clients’ properties in Hudson, MA. This pest can completely defoliate its host and, if enough damage is caused, can weaken and kill a tree after years of damage. October 31, 2018 – I was called in to look at an Ash tree in Canton, MA today. The photos show confirmation of Emerald Ash Borer. This location is close to the Blue Hills Reservation and other confirmed sightings of the Emerald Ash Borer.
Seven Sons Flower
October 15, 2018 – I stopped in at a property today and I was able to enjoy the Seven Sons flower of these two plants. It was a great day for fall color with winter interest showing with the shedding bark.
Mushrooms
October 10, 2018 – While walking a property yesterday, we discovered mushrooms growing out of the ground. At first they were hard to identify, but then we spotted them and enjoyed their look among the ground cover.
Autumn Leaves
October 5, 2018 – Working in Needham, MA today. I got to see fall color on a Sugar Maple. That reminds me of the beauty I get to enjoy every season of the year!
