Scarborough Presbyterian Pre-School Children Learn the Importance of Trees
Scarborough, NY—SavATree arborists Steve Mazza and Brad Gurr spent much of Wednesday, April 30 surrounded by eager pre-school students at the Scarborough Presbyterian Children’s Center (SPCC) in Westchester County, NY who gathered around them to hear about how trees are important to animals, food, scenery, and the environment.
During the program the arborists answered numerous questions from the children, including how to best water and take care of trees in their neighborhood. The answers focused on how trees work with the rest of the environment and why they are important for maintaining healthy and beautiful communities. Mazza said, “We gave each child a small tree to plant at home and a “Go-Green” T-shirt, which the kids loved. The kids were really excited and I’ve had several comments from customers about how much their kids enjoyed learning about trees and tree care.”
SPCC Director Katya Montelbano said, “The SPCC knows how important environmental issues are, and our belief is that teaching children early is the best way to ensure they will grow into responsible and aware adults.” SPCC is an early learning center dedicated to developing learning skills and enthusiasm in pre-school age children.
